A recent Military.com article reminded me of the incredible sacrifices that our Navy families make along with their sons and daughters. It was the story of Alleta & Thomas Sullivan. You may remember them as the parents who lost all five of their sons in the sinking of the USS Juneau during WW II. We remembered Mrs. Sullivan in a Mother’s Day blog in 2014. While she passed away back in 1972 in her hometown of Waterloo, Iowa, it seems fitting to remember this extraordinary Gold Star mom this Memorial Day. I encourage you to check out the links I’ve included to learn more about this amazing Navy family.
